Investment Types

Investments

Due to the specialised nature of the strategies we gain access to, there are only a small number of companies providing these types of opportunities to clients.

Whilst enjoying a close working relationship with our clients, we do not hold or control their investments or assets.

We remain confident in our ability to source investments that are both interesting and attractive to our clients.

We source, research, and provide information on a range of investment and tax planning opportunities that aim to provide good risk-adjusted returns across various asset types and structures, including:

Tax-efficient investments

Titan Alternatives seeks to use non-contentious solutions based on various statutory allowances, but view investments on their merit, not on the tax advantages they offer.

We have had an enormous response from clients in recent years, proving the appeal of investments underpinned by tax reliefs and the attraction of the underlying proposals sourced.

Successive governments have created and implemented legislation to support certain types of investment in British businesses, offering tax reliefs on entry along with providing significant risk mitigations.

Investors are compensated for the extra risk involved with investing in smaller companies, by the valuable tax incentives and downside risk protection where eligible.

Investment providers

Titan Alternatives has historically worked with those who have a strong management team, proven track record and a diligent approach to client support and administration.

We strive to provide exceptional service to our clients. This has been recognised by a number of third parties that have shared their experience of working with us and our clients.

Venture Capital Trusts

VCTs are companies listed on the London Stock Exchange and were first introduced by the UK government in 1995 to encourage investment in small UK businesses.

In recent years, Titan Alternatives has successfully chosen to introduce funds for VCTs that have had a first-mover advantage within a particular asset class and that has targeted a long-term tax-free dividend yield.

VCTs provide attractive tax incentives which include:

  • Income Tax relief of 30%
  • Tax-Free dividends
  • Tax-Free gains on disposal after 5 years

Enterprise Investment Schemes (EISs)

Launched in 1994, Enterprise Investment Schemes (EISs) encourage investments in small unquoted companies carrying on a qualifying trade in the UK. Since inception, over £25bn of private funding has been raised by EIS companies providing vital funding to help grow new businesses.

An EIS can provide qualifying investors with attractive tax incentives which include:

  • Income Tax relief of 30%
  • Tax-Free gains on disposal after 3 years
  • Deferral on Capital Gains Tax by reinvesting into EIS shares
  • If a loss is realised on disposal this can be set against your income
  • Relief from Inheritance Tax after a holding period of 2 years
  • Titan Alternatives has successfully supported a number of UK businesses with both seed and growth capital across various sectors.

Don’t invest unless you are prepared to lose all the money you invest. These are high-risk investments, and you are unlikely to be protected if something goes wrong. Take 2 minutes to learn more.

Hedge Funds

Hedge funds embrace a wide variety of strategies that focus on generating positive returns, largely driven by the fund manager’s ability, rather than relying on economic or market conditions.

Titan Alternatives enjoys relationships with leading global fund management houses allowing clients to gain access at reduced minimum investment levels, whilst often being closed to new investors.

Private Equity

Private equity and venture capital firms are long-term investors, typically investing in companies for around 5-7 years. This means a commitment to building lasting and sustainable value in the businesses they invest in.

Private equity and venture capital firms are long-term investors, typically investing in companies for around 5-7 years. This means a commitment to building lasting and sustainable value in the businesses they invest in.

Our position in a specialist market allows us to be informed of investments and deal flow that are either exclusive or only available through a select number of firms.

A few recent examples of such opportunities sourced include niche investments in solar farm projects, specialised supported housing and a fast-growing tech enabled logistics group.

Property Funds

We look to engage with property specialists to source investment opportunities mainly across the UK and Europe.

Historically this has included clients gaining exposure to a large residential property portfolio in Germany (which is now a market-listed entity), to smaller bespoke entrants in the UK Hospitality and Leisure industry.

Strategies have ranged from combining a profitable operational business supported by freehold property value growth to taking advantage of cost-effective renovation programmes and the purchase and transformation of a country estate.
